Dear Friends, may I have your suggestions for a discussion topic for our meeting on Thursday? (Please see details for our meeting here)
I personally have several suggestions. I would like to base our discussions around a TED Talk to facilitate matters. So I propose one of the following four:
1. The happy secret to better work by Shawn Achor (www.ted.com/tal…/shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_better_work) This entertaining talk is about the effect of happiness on work success, what we are doing wrong in this respect and how we can change it.
2. Philip Zimbardo’s talk on the psychology of evil. (www.ted.com/talks/philip_zimbardo_on_the_psychology_of_evil. Please be aware that the video has disturbing scenes.) The talk mainly elaborates on what influences good people to turn into evil. There is a wealth of information in this talk and it is really an eye-opener. Yet it might not be such a good idea to discuss this topic in our meeting as some of you may find it too serious. I personally would like it very much.
3. Sheryl WuDunn: Our century’s greatest injustice (http://go.ted.com/C4GX) This is an informative and inspiring talk on women and how the world can change if women were provided with better opportunities.
4. Yann Dall’Aglio’s talk titled: “Love — you’re doing it wrong” (http://go.ted.com/C4Gk). This talk is in French with English subtitles. It is quite a witty talk on the state of love in modern age on how we suffer from an endless search for being desired and contains a call upon tenderness as a remedy to this. It might be enjoyable and interesting to discuss this topic.
So please have a look and tell me which topic you would like to discuss?
Thanks and best regards
Isil the Curious Soul 🙂
